NG Bailey, the UK’s largest building services provider, has been awarded a contract by Solihull College to provide mechanical, electrical and information communication technology services during the development of its Blossomfield Campus.
The contract, worth £5.2m to NG Bailey, will see the company working in partnership with main contractor Kier Moss, part of the regional construction division of the Kier Group, to deliver the new campus by January 2011.
Once finished, the redevelopment will provide students with high quality services and facilities including a new visual arts, media and performing arts block complete with large theatre, as well as modern class rooms and workshops. It will also allow the College to increase its provision of specialist vocational training in a range of areas such as graphics, animal care, sport, fashion, hair and beauty and business and management training.
NG Bailey is installing and commissioning all mechanical and electrical services, with the company’s specialist ICT arm, completing telephone and data cabling on the project. The finished campus is aiming for BREEAM ‘very good’ status and NG Bailey will be responsible for integrating building controls within the new and refurbished blocks.
Chris Newton, NG Bailey’s acting chief executive said: “We are delighted to have been selected for the Blossomfield Campus development. Our reputation for integrated building services and systems is strong and we are seeing solid growth in the education sector as a result. We are proud to have created many outstanding learning environments in the past and look forward to bringing the skills and expertise we have gained to Solihull College.”
NG Bailey offers a comprehensive range of services to the construction and property industries including mechanical & electrical and ICT design, prefabrication, installation and commissioning – coupled with lifetime maintenance and managed services.
